Embellish baby

The new Embellish challenge is up, and it's raining babies! I just can't get enough of these challenges, the colour combo's are always so great and the ladies that post are so creative! I always get lots of ideas just browsing everyone else's cards:) The colours for this challenge were green, yellow, cream and peach. I don't have any peach, so I went off the map a little and use pink instead:) I also used the current card patterns sketch for my layout. Aren't these little critters adorable? I just want to squeeze them!:) I really loved the woman's polka-dot shirt in the picture so that was my jumping off point, and luckily I had this Sweet Pea DSP in so saffron that worked perfectly! Now if a certain friend of mine would hurry up and get a baby on board....I have the perfect card for her:)

Supplies:
-old olive, whisper white, very vanilla, so saffron, and regal rose cardstock
-Sweet Pea DSP
-regal rose, old olive and so saffron ink
-buttons sizzlit die from SU!
-flowers and ovals were cut with my Cricut
-"Fox and Friends" and "whimsical words" stamp sets from SU!
-gingham ribbon from SU!
-scalloped edge punch

-scallop trim punch
-chocolate chip satin ribbon
-yellow button from basic grey stash
-pp from upsy daisy designs

new challenge site:)

I've discovered a new challenge site and it makes me so happy:) It's so nice to be able to find inspiration from other people so quickly and challenge sites are the easiest way for me to do that without feeling like I'm stealing another card completely:) The new site is the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site which you can find a link to on the right. I used their first sketch to make this card. I've been working on some cards for my father-in-law to give out to some co-workers and I've been trying to come up with some that have an astrological theme. Not quite sure I'm hitting the mark, but the moon is astrological right?:) I saw this idea to put the owl from "forest friends" in front of a brayered sky from someone else (so I guess a little bit of stealing is ok:) The card measures 4.25 x 4.25.

Supplies:
-not quite navy, whisper white, basic black cardstock
-versamark, black embossing powder
-white grosgrain ribbon
-not quite navy, tempting turquoise, and basic black ink
-scalloped edge punch
-"forest friends", "great friend" and "happy moments" stamp sets from SU!

FTL #93 And Embellish!

I've been wanting to make brick wall card ever since I saw Beate's tutorial on her blog. Hers is such a beauty...mine...maybe not, but I'm still going to post it. I've really enjoyed playing along with Embellish's challenges lately, but this one threw me for a loop. How can I tell I'm not a fan of cameo coral? I went to see what I had for scraps when I was starting this card...and loh and behold had none for this colour!! Shocker! NOT! Anyways, I did manage to get a bit of it into this card, and while I love what everyone else is doing with this colour combo, I'm not blown away by my attempt:) Let me know what you think:) Along with the current embellish challenge, I also used Clean and Simple Cards' challenge #93. It started out as a clean and simple card....but with all the sponging and cutting, didn't end up as one:) I think what is actually bothering me the most about this card (apart from the poorly cut ribbon ends:) is that I stamped the medallion image in black when it should have been stamped in chocolate chip (my ink pad is in the mail:). Ahhh well:)

Supplies:
-whisper white, cameo coral, and chocolate chip cardstock
-basic black, soft suede, and crushed curry ink
-chocolate chip satin ribbon, basic grey button, and twine
-"Great Friend" and "Happy Moments" stamp sets from SU!

Sweet Sunday Sketch#71

I know it's summer, but I couldn't resist these fall colours for some reason. I love chocolate chip and pumpkin pie together.....the colours....not the food (though I haven't tried it:) I played around with this week's sunday sketch challenge for this card and I'm fairly pleased with the results. I've got to use ovals more often:) Although my bow is a constant reminder that I could use some new scissors that are dedicated for ribbon only! It was to play with my new birthday present to get the cool oval shape....thanks Dee!:)

Supplies:
-chocolate chip, and very vanilla cardstock
-Sweet Pea DSP
-chocolate chip satin ribbon
-oval nestibillities
-orange brads
-soft suede and pumpkin pie ink
-foam dimensionals
-"Vintage Vogue" stamp set from SU!
