A couple of longies:)

Wow, I'm behind with my challenges this week! My desktop is loaded with sketches to do:) I did manage to get a couple of cards made today using a couple of sketch challenges. Both were for long cards so I made mine 6.5 x 3.25. Here they are:

This first card is one I've made for my nephew's 1st birthday. I just love these little critters! But I'm wishing the set had one sentiment in it....like...."for my little monkey" or something:) I really like this sketch and I think my card is alright, but if I had some In Colour polka-dot ribbon, that would have been perfect!! I'm loving this pp with these images, doesn't it kind of look like paw prints? :)

Supplies:
-chocolate chip, really rust, more mustard, and whisper white cs
-autumn vine dsp
-dusty durango, soft suede, crushed curry, and pumpkin pie ink
-circle punches
-white ric-rac from Beachfront ribbon originals
-dimensionals
-Fox and Friends and Happy Moments stamp sets
I love clean and simple sketches, so this one from Card Patterns really caught my eye. I've been wanting to make some sympathy cards for my collection and I thought that the Bella Bleu DSP from SU! would be perfect. I quite like this card, but it has a couple of flaws so I don't think I'll be able to sell it, but there has been a certain someone who I've been thinking about a lot lately, so maybe she would appreciate receiving it:)
Supplies:
-not quite navy, basic gray, and whisper white cs
-Bella Bleu DSP
-not quite navy and basic black ink
-vintage brads
-scallop trim punch
-paper piercing tool
-Thoughts and Prayers stamp set from SU!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #60

I had a card mapped out in my head for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge since I saw it. I knew I was going to take the sketch literally and use a pile of flowers and I knew I wanted to use my white embossing powder on a bold colour. But this didn't exactly turn out how I imagined:( I think the stitching is throwing me off, next time I will use a backstitch and I think it will look better. Plus the butterfly trail should have been stitched too:) Anyways, here it is: (Sorry for the glare)

Supplies:
-pumpkin pie, whisper white, rich razzleberry, and melon mambo cs
-Sweet Pea DSP
-white embossing powder
-pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon
-Garden Greetings and Great Friend stamp sets from SU!
-pink thread

Spring is in the air

A couple of friends and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather today and went for a walk on the Kal Lake trails (now is the perfect time because there are no snakes:). It was the perfect afternoon: not too hot, not too cold. And of course Attaboy had a good time as always. Not only did I get to go for a nice walk, but I also got to spend some time in my craft room today:) This first one I made using clean and simple's FTL #82. If I'm going to try and sell some of my cards this summer, I thought I should probably make some sympathy cards so I decided to make a sympathy card using this sketch.

I like this card a lot, but I think it would be better if the sentiment was lower down.

Supplies:
-very vanilla, old olive cs, and old olive dsp
-scalloped edge punch
-Thoughts and Prayers stamp set
-very vanilla satin ribbon
-versamark and white embossing powder

Isn't this next card cute? I love that little bunny!
I might have to make some Easter cards this year (I never have before) b/c that bunny is screaming Easter:)

Supplies:
-bermuda bay, melon mambo, whisper white cs, and good neighbours dsp
-old olive and melon mambo ink
-circle punches
-dimensionals
-scalloped edge punch
-pretty in pink satin ribbon
-Forest Friends and Happy Moments stamp sets

Finally, even though it's spring when I saw this week's
Card Patterns sketch I immediately knew I wanted to use Christmas themed patterned paper. So this one will hang around until December:)

Supplies:
-garden green, real red, whisper white cs, and Merry Moments DSP
-real red satin ribbon
-soft suede ink
-red brad
-Dasher

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary honey! My husband and I "started dating" 8 years ago today. Do you consider it dating when your best friend reaches over and holds your hand while watching "Strange Brew"? I'm such a lucky girl!:) Anywho....here are some cards I made that aren't for my husband...:)
I made this cute little birthday card for my nephew
using Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge this week. The first time I saw Fox and Friends in the new SU! mini, I knew I had to have it:) Aren't those little guys the cutest?! I love this lion, but the next time I think it would look better with his mane popped up instead of his face.

Supplies:
-whisper white, crushed curry, and pumpkin pie cs
-pumpkin pie dsp
-pumpkin pie and crushed curry ink
-pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon
-scalloped edge punch

the sentiment is from Happy Moments

The next card is one I made using an old clean and simple sketch. I needed to punch out an easy card quickly and this is what I came up with.

I used my new stamp sets that I got for free for Sale-a-bration. The birthday cake is from Happy Moments and the sentiment is one of my favourites from Whimsical Words.

Supplies:
-whisper white, taken with teal cs
-Sweet Pea DSP
-pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon
-taken with teal ink
-stampin dimensionals
-corner rounder

Finally, I had this card planned out in my head since last week and was finally able to get it made today:) I stole the idea to paper piece the flower from Garden Greetings from Sarah Gough. She made a beautiful card showcasing her pp with this set. I played around with a few different patterns, but finally settled on this subtle one. I'm pretty happy with it:)
Supplies:
-taken with teal, whisper white, rose red cs
-taken with teal dsp
-pretty in pink satin ribbon
-taken with teal ink
-teal brad

March Madness!

Wowzers! I've got a lot of cards to make! I have 4 birthdays in March plus the anniversary of when my husband and I started dating 8 years ago is next week. Luckily there is tons of inspiration out in the blogosphere:) I used a couple of sketch challengs to make a few cards today. The first one is from clean and simple stamps:

When I first saw the medallion stamp in the IB&C I thought, "who would buy that stamp? It's all by itself!" But as I was designing sketches it kept coming up. I started to understand its appeal:) Now I LOVE it! Here's my first card using it. I loved the grid technique the last time so I decided to use it again for this card.

Supplies:
-very vanilla, always artichoke cs
-Sweet Pea DSP
-Medallion and Vintage Vogue stamp sets from SU!
-very vanilla satin ribbon
-copper brad

The next one I used is Sweet Sunday Sketch #58. Isn't it fantastic? You can do so much with it!

My husband's birthday is next week and I always struggle with masculine cards. I'm not sure I hit the head on the nail with this one, the ribbon kind of fems it up a bit:) Ah well, he'll love it:)
Supplies:
-whisper white, autumn vine dsp, not quite navy cs
-basic gray satin ribbon
-clear button
-white embossing powder
-Happy Moments stamp set

This one is for my niece who loves pink! I hope she'll like it:)
Supplies:
-whisper white and rose red cs
-Sweet Pea DSP
-pretty in pink satin ribbon
-white button
-scalloped square punch
-the cupcake is from The More the Merrier stamp set
