Jolly Holiday
So.....it's been quite awhile since my last post, but I have a good excuse!! I recently took on a new job title and haven't been spending as much time in my craft room lately, but that is all going to change! I am seriously behind on my christmas cards and if I want to send them out I better get my but in gear! Here's the first of many to come:) When I first saw "Greeting Card Kids" in the new catalogue I knew I had to have it! And then there was this gorgeous crochet trim! Needless to say the idea for this card has been floating around in my mind just waiting until I had the supplies to make it happen:) and here it is:
I used a clean and simple sketch from a few weeks ago: FTL 112. Hope you like it:)
I used my ink pads and an aqua painter to watercolour the little girl, I just might be persuaded to ditch my blender pens for the aqua painters....we'll see:)
Supplies:
-chocolate chip, very vanilla, cherry cobbler, and old olive cardstock
-Jolly Holiday DSP
-watercolour paper
-crochet trim
-chocolate chip double stitched ribbon
-"Greeting Card Kids" and "Four the Holidays"
-corner rounder punch
-paper piercer
-basic black, real red, old olive, soft suede, and not quite navy ink

Where have I been?
My poor neglected craft room! I haven't spent any creative time in there in days, but I was able to squeeze some time in there to make a few cards today. I missed out on an embellish challenge in my absence and I couldn't let that happen again:) So here's my take on the current challenge to use black, grey, white and yellow and a background stamp. I also used last week's mojo monday sketch for this card.
Supplies:
-basic black, basic grey, crushed curry, and whisper white cardstock
-crushed curry, versamark, and basic black ink
-white organza ribbon
-scalloped edge punch
-black embossing powder
As much as I love the organza ribbon, I am still struggling to tie a bow that looks nice with it:( Thanks for stopping by!

FTL #104
My poor craft room has been so neglected! It's hard for me to spend time in there in the summer (it's so hot with no a/c), but don't feel sorry for it, it gets plenty of love in the winter:) I did manage to whip out this quick card last night though. I have seen other people make cute DSP with their Fox and Friends' critters and I thought this sketch was perfect for it:) I also used this colour challenge:
For some reason, I'm drawn to making these baby cards that have multiple colours in them. I think in my mind they are meant to be gender-neutral, but A LOT of pink always finds its way in.....not so gender-neutral afterall:)
Supplies:
-rose red and whisper white cardstock
-rose red DSP
-pretty in pink satin ribbon
-"Fox and Friends" stamp set
-rose red, old olive, so saffron, and pretty in pink ink

Another Embellish challenge that I can't resist! And Quirky Cutesy is just up my alley:) The colours to use were sea foam, kraft, peach, and cream. I didn't have any peach paper so I decided to watercolour this little bird from "Animal Crackers" a peach colour. Isn't he the cutest?

-baja breeze, crumb cake, very vanilla cardstock
-basic black, and stazon ink
-Me and My Big Ideas DSP
-perfect polka dots embossing folder

Embellish with Birds
I love me an Embellish challenge and this one is no exception:) Plus I hadn't inked up my "Happy Together" stamp set so what a perfect challenge to use it for:) I didn't come up with this card all by myself, I did get the inspiration for it from elsewhere, bt I didn't jot down the person's name....so if you recognize it, it was probably you:) I changed it up a bit, chaning the colours, ribbon and adding some texture. The colours to use were pink, brown and green and here's what I came up with:
Supplies:
-whisper white and old olive cardstock
-melon mambo and chocolate chip ink
-perfect polka dot embossing folder
-chocolate chip satin ribbon
-brown button from stash

Clean and Simple #100 & #101
For Sketch #100, I had a pretty good idea as to what I wanted to do but I needed some help choosing the colour, so I went to my new colour coach (which I LOVE) and found this combo: old olive, pumpkin pie, and rich razzleberry. Here's what I came up with:

-pumpkin pie grosgrain ribbon
-paper piercing tool
-old olive, rich razzleberry, and basic black ink
-scalloped edge punch
-razzleberry lemonade DSP

For Sketch #101 I didn't need my colour coach. Instead I used one my tried and true favourite combos: pumpkin pie and chocolate chip:) It even sounds delicious!
Supplies:
-pumpkin pie, chocolate chip, crumb cake, and whisper white cardstock
-Sweet Pea DSP
-scallop trim border punch
-chocolate chip satin ribbon

Mojo....Saturday?
Late is always better than never right? I think so:) So here's my card for this week's mojo sketch. I wasn't really digging the three strips of paper/ribbon behind the main focal image so I didn't use it. That's allowed right? Man, I'm breaking all the rules. I got my first supply of new catalogue stuff and I am LOVING the perfect polka-dot embossing folder. It adds just the perfect amount of texture:)
Supplies:
-basic grey, very vanilla, and baja breeze cardstock
-elegant soiree DSP
-basic grey satin ribbon
-basic black ink
-perfect polka-dot embossing folder
-scallop trim border punch

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Challenge #7
I've got a lot of birthday cards to make so I've been looking at sketch challenges to get some inspiration and ideas. When I first saw the celebrations DSP I knew I had to have it:) I thought those numbers were perfect! I used the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge to make this card using that DSP. It might be a little overwhelming in a large sheet like this one:) Maybe next time a smaller piece would be better:)
Supplies:
-real red and whisper white cardstock
-Celebrations DSP
-real red ink
-pear pizazz poly-stitched ribbon
-"Happy Moments" stamp set

My friend asked me to make a card for her that she can give to a couple that is getting married in the fall and the current colour Q challenge was perfect for it! If these aren't fall colours, I don't know what are:) I also used the mojo monday sketch challenge to make this card. I stole the idea to use butterflies in the squares from LeAnne Pugliese:) Thanks Leanne for the inspiration:) I'm not impressed with the ribbon as it is, so I might have to change it a bit:)

Embellish and FTL #99
After the Farmer's Market I realized that I needed to build up my birthday card supply, so I used the new Embellish colour challenge to make one. What a daunting colour challenge! Orange and Turquoise, yowza! Plus ric-rac! I'm not quite sure I made it work. I think I would have liked this card better if I had left out the ric-rac or used it in another way:) Ah well, maybe someone will like it:)
Supplies:
-bermuda bay, whisper white and crumb cake cardstock
-chocolate chip satin ribbon
-chocolate chip, pumpkin pie, and bermuda bay ink
-white ric-rac

Thinking of You...
In addition to the 3 cards that Molly bought from me at the farmer's market (see below) she also commissioned me to make her 3 more sympathy cards. Well, given that I hadn't made a new card in awhile, I was way behind in my sketch challenges and had a lot of inspiration to use:) Here are some that I made for her, hopefully they are what she had in mind:
I used Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #119 for this first card. This is a new challenge site for me, but I'm really liking their sketches so far:) As soon as I saw the three cut panels I knew I wanted to use the tulip from "Garden Whimsy".
Supplies:
-whisper white, rose red, and old olive cardstock
-Sweet Pea and Welcome Neighbour DSP
-old olive, pretty in pink, and rose red ink
-pretty in pink satin ribbon
-"Garden Whimsy" and "Kind and Caring Thoughts"
I used Card Patterns' sketch #72 for this next one. I love sketches like this one and now that I have my Cricut to cut out the squares they are even more fun:)
Supplies:
-soft suede and very vanilla cardstock
-Sweet Pea and Welcome Neighbour DSP
-twine
-soft suede ink
-fabric flower and brad from supply
-"kind and Caring Thoughts"
I used another TESC for this next one! They are so great, you have to check them out:)
Supplies:
-chocolate chip and whisper white cardstock
-Welcome Neighbour and Good Morning Sunshine DSP
-scallop border punch
-so saffron and chocolate chip ink
-"Kind and Caring Thoughts"

1st Farmer's Market:)
Busy, busy, busy! There's been a lack of updates on the blog because I haven't made any new cards for awhile. My friend Amie, her mother-in-law Molly and I went to our first farmer's market on thursday. I went to get all of the cards that I had made and realized that over half of them weren't finished!! So all of the time spent in my craft room was used to do the insides of all of my cards:) New Rule: finish a card top to bottom (before you use the patterned paper you need on another card). Anyways, it was a fun farmer's market and we will definetly do it again. I didn't sell any cards to any strangers, but my co-workers were very supportive:) I did manage to cross an item off of my 10 Things To Do in 2010 list: sell a card at a farmer's market (Molly was very sweet and was my very first customer:) Here are some pictures:
Aren't these hypertufa pots super cool! Might have to buy one for myself at the next farmer's market:)
