Card Patterns Sketch #65

I had another masculine card to make and luckily the newest card patterns sketch came around with perfect timing:) I wanted to try the spotlighting technique, and even though I really like it, I think it would work better with a floral image. Plus I think my "spotlight" was too big.

Embellish with butterflies and a little kissing:)

A couple of friends passed an important test to become registered technicians recently. I know they were both really nervous and I know what it's like to scroll through hundreds of numbers looking for yours and how nervewracking that is! Even though it's only the first step in a long process, I was still so proud of them, and they should be proud of themselves too! So, I made them both similar cards using the new Embellish challenge and the current clean and simple sketch. I loved the colour combo and who doesn't love to embellish with butterflies?! I didn't have kraft, but I think soft suede is pretty close so I used it instead:) I also tried the kissing technique with my butterfly. I gave my inked butterfly a peck with a polka-dot stamp. It's pretty subtle, but I still like it. Here's one of the cards that I made, I really like how it turned out. I think I might have to use this sketch again:)

Mojo Monday #139

I really love this week's mojo monday sketch! Tons of fun! I think I'll have to use it again. I had a masculine birthday card to make and it worked perfectly:) And luckily I had a rainy day to play in my craft room. I just realized that I forgot to use the soft suede top note die piece that I had cut....ah well:) Here's what I came up with:

-old olive, soft suede, and basic black ink

Embellish with dimension:)

I made this card using the current embellish challenge. This was a tough one for me, look at those colours! Together?! What??!! I was at a loss when I grabbed the cardstock that I had on hand that was close to those colours and just couldn't imagine them together, until I remembered the new patterned paper stack that I got from Me and My Big Ideas. It had the perfect green! Then I just had to find some pp with the brown and terracotta colours and I was golden:) Mary Fish had done a card awhile ago that had scalloped borders down the entire front of the card and I earmarked it for stealing:) So here's my interpretation using Mary's scallop edge idea and a new ruffled ribbon technique I learned from Ashley Newell's blog.

Yay! I'm Hot :)

Wowzers! Embellish magazine chose my mother's day card as one of their top choices for their last challenge. I didn't win the challenge, but I'm so stoked! I know mom loved it, but it's so much fun when other card-makers like it too:) This is the first time one of my cards has been chosen as a favourite for a challenge. Yay! Anyways, enough tooting my own horn, here's a card I made for the current Card Patterns sketch challenge.





I used my new favourite technique for this card: emboss resist! But my sponging could have been better:)

Sweet Sunday Sketch#68

I love this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge! Those clean lines are just up my alley :) I saw a few people use faux-stitching and I really liked it, so I thought I'd do it too:) When I first cut my pp pieces I thought they were too small and now that's it done I realize it was probably better the way it was. Ah well, an excuse to make another one:)

Mojo Monday #137

It's funny how sometimes as soon as you see a sketch an idea pops into your head right away and others it takes days to figure out what you want to make. This was a quick one for me. I really like this week's sketch and this is what I came up with.
